Where To Ride Your Polaris® Slingshot® In Kentucky
The Bluegrass State is filled with unique locations that are worthy of a scenic journey on your powersports machine. When you’re in your Polaris® Slingshot®, you’ll love winding your way around Kentucky, taking in the beauty of forested and mountainous Appalachia or coasting alongside one of the state’s many majestic rivers.
Big Country Powersports in Bowling Green has the lowdown on a few choice destinations within our fine state so you can hop into your Slingshot® and sail down the highway towards a fun adventure!
Lake Cumberland (near Rowena, KY)
Due east from Bowling Green, this gorgeous artificial lake is one of Kentucky’s most popular destinations for boating, fishing and general marine recreation. Explore some of the many walking trails, sample from wineries, visit an orchard or play a round of golf while you’re in the area. For places to stay, you can camp in the area or head north and east on Cumberland Parkway to find plenty of hotels within Somerset.
From our dealership, follow Nashville Road south to KY-9007 S and turn right to follow it for a few miles before catching I-65 N/Cumberland Parkway for about 75 miles. You’ll make a right on exit 49 south of Columbia to follow Kentucky 55 Business S for 23 miles southeast until you reach Lake Cumberland.
My Old Kentucky Home (Bardstown, KY)
If American history peaks your interest, then you’re going to want to plan a day trip to this state park. My Old Kentucky Home is the site of Federal Hill, a mansion built between 1795 and 1818 as the residence of Senator John Rowan. Guided tours of the mansion are performed by guides in period costume, and it is a monument to Kentucky state history as well as the history of the early United States.
This building served as an inspiration for Kentucky’s state song, “My Old Kentucky Home, Good Night,” an anti-slavery ballad that was composed by Stephen Foster in 1852.
The park features both an amphitheatre that stages regular productions and the 18-hole Kenny Rapier Golf Course. The campgrounds are available between March and November if you choose to stay the night.
To get here from Big Country Powersports, follow Nashville Road north to the roundabout that takes you onto University Boulevard, which will become Kentucky Street. Turn left on 6th Avenue, right on Gordon Avenue, then follow KY-85 N for 33 miles until you reach south Caneyville. Here, you’ll make a left on Southland Drive, a left onto KY-79 S, then a third left onto Wendell H. Ford Western Kentucky Parkway for 56 miles into Bardstown.
We hope these two routes provide you with hours of riding enjoyment in your Slingshot®! Visit our Bowling Green dealership if you’re still in need of the perfect ride.
