ATV Safety Tips
ATVs offer a great way to explore the outdoors, but they can also be dangerous if they're not used properly. Set yourself up for a safe trail ride by following the below tips.
Wear The Right Gear
Wearing the proper gear will protect you from injuries in the event of a crash. This includes a helmet, eye protection, full-length clothing, and closed-toe shoes.
Avoid Riding Alone
It's always best to ride with at least one other person. If a problem occurs, such as a medical issue or a four-wheeler maintenance issue, there will be someone around to help.
If you must ride alone, be sure to tell someone else where you're going and when you expect to return. In the event that something does happen, that person will know to come looking for you and where to start the search.
Inspect Your ATV Before Riding
Before heading out, it's important to do a pre-ride inspection. Look over your four-wheeler and check everything from the tire air pressure to the visibility of the lights. If you find a problem, you can get it fixed before it creates a safety issue on the trail.
Stay Within Your Limits
Be realistic about the types of trails that you can safely explore and the speeds that you can handle safely. Going beyond your skill level can increase the risk of crashing and getting injured.
